The Oregon coast is one of the beautiful sites of the Pacific Northwest, and at just an hour away, it’s certainly worth a trip. Head to Astoria, Oregon first, which was the last stop on Lewis and Clark’s journey where they spent a long, hard winter before turning back. Today Fort Clatsop, the fort they stayed in, has been recreated and is a national monument in the Lewis and Clark National Historic Park. The Astoria Column is a must-visit attraction, offering absolutely breathtaking views of the Columbia River meeting the Pacific Ocean and of the surround valleys. The column is 125 feet tall and is on a hill, and the column features beautiful pictures depicting the history of the region. From Astoria you can either head South and hit Seaside, Oregon and Cannon Beach, Oregon or cross the beautiful Astoria bridge and wrap around North along the Washington Coast. |
